BIALYS INSTITUTION KOSSAR’S OPENS ITS NEW LOCATION TODAY

Kossar’s, a bialys staple of the Lower East Side since 1936, opened another location on the Upper West Side this morning at 270 W. 72nd Street, at West End Avenue, according to its Instagram. It’s the brand’s fourth location, with other outposts on the Upper East Side and Hudson Yards.

A new upstate bar opens this month

Casa Susanna, a modern Mexican Hudson Valley restaurant stationed inside of Camptown, a hotel in Leeds, New York, was named a Best New Restaurant for 2023 by Esquire, in a kitchen led by chef Efrén Hernández, an alum of the former Babs in the West Village. On May 31, the team will add Bar Piscina, located in a gazebo at the Camptown property, serving fluke ceviche, aguachile, and several tlayudas, alongside frozen margaritas and paletas in flavors like blueberry-cardamom, per a spokesperson.

The New York Botanical Garden’s Alice in Wonderland menu

Wonderland: Curious Nature is the newly unveiled exhibit that runs from May 18 to October 27 at the New York Botanical Gardens. There’s a menu to match, including a “themed tea party (costumes encouraged),” as well as a new prix-fixe menu at Hudson Garden Grill in the Bronx, and what a spokesperson describes as “trippy cocktails.”

Justine Snacks is hosting another pop-up

Justine Doiron, the TikTok recipe developer and soon-to-be cookbook author, is hosting a pizza pop-up in Prospect Heights at Leland Eating and Drinking House. Running on three consecutive Fridays (May 24, May 31, and June 7), the influencer will be take over for lunch, serving up pies like “Basically a Salad”, “Clam-Shamel” and “Fresno Sweet Heat.” Leland will serve housemade rootbeer as well as apero drinks.
