FAST-CASUAL PIZZERIAS FROM A FAMED SAN FRANCISCO PIZZAIOLO ARE COMING TO SAN DIEGO

A spinoff of one of San Francisco’s most famous pizza palaces that is currently on a franchising tear in California and beyond includes more than a handful of locations in the San Diego area. Slice House is a fast-casual chain spawned by acclaimed pizzaiolo Tony Gemignani, who operates the foundational Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in North Beach — an essential Bay Area pizzeria — is a 13-time world pizza champion who owns dozens of restaurants across the country.

The author of several books about pizza, Gemignani is not just known for Neapolitan pies; he also specializes in New York, Sicilian, Detroit, and grandma-style pizzas, which are all represented on Slice House’s menu. He’s not a traditionalist when it comes to toppings either, with options like barbecue, chicken bacon ranch, and Hawaiian. Other menu items include salads, pasta, and sub sandwiches.

A rep for the company confirmed that Slice House by Tony Gemignani is opening restaurants in Little Italy and La Jolla, with four additional locations in the works for the greater San Diego County region.
