THIS NORTH BAY CITY IS ABOUT TO GET A LUXE NEW COCKTAIL LOUNGE

Big-time cocktails incorporating charred pineapple-infused mezcal and Toki Japanese whiskey are about to debut in Marin County. Corner Bar, a new Mill Valley cocktail lounge, will open on April 24 with a high-end pedigree behind it. The new bar comes from the same team behind fellow Mill Valley hits Buckeye Roadhouse and Bungalow 44. Chef Michael Siege, who cooked at Playa and now-closed Betelnut, has prepared a Meditteranean-inspired menu for Corner Bar with dishes including salmon tartare on latkes and duck wings à l’orange.

This new installation certainly brings a level of glitz to a chunk of the Bay not necessarily known for its bar scene. Architect Tim Dixon and designer Liz Schumacher envisioned the design for the 60-seat bar with the intent to harken to old-school Mill Valley watering holes. The bar should be accessible to Mill Valley’s less affluent residents, too, with daily $10 cocktails. Corner Bar will open at 106 Throckmorton Avenue from 4 to 11 p.m.

Kosher sushi spot opens in Palo Alto

There’s no need to worry about shellfish cross-contamination at Holy Sushi, a new and fully kosher Japanese restaurant on the Peninsula. Palo Alto Online reports the restaurant opened on April 1 within the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center. Chef Wilson He cut his teeth at Minako when it was in San Francisco, and Holy Sushi comes to the JCC after spending six months operating out of boba shop TeAmo.

Sausalito welcomes new French cafe

Right on the main drag, mere steps from the water comes North Bay newcomer Suzette. The French bistro and cafe opened on April 18 serving from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week. Head here for Belgian waffles and eggs Benedict in the morning or duck confit and escargot in the evening.
