MUMMY HOT DOGS WILL DISAPPEAR IN SECONDS AT YOUR HALLOWEEN PARTY

When it comes to iconic Halloween snacks, sweet treats usually get all the attention during spooky season. There are plenty of sweet Halloween treats to keep your party going, but if you’re looking for something more on the savory side, the options might seem more limited. If you're looking for the easiest festive snack to to keep your guests satisfied during those scary movie marathons and trick-or-treat festivities, then these mummy hot dogs are the answer. Ready in 35 minutes and only requiring 5 ingredients, these dogs are not only easy to make—they’re even easier to devour. Wrapped in crescent dough and stuffed with cheese, these mummy dogs are buttery, flaky, and cheesy (AKA, everything we could ever want in an easy appetizer).

How to make mummy hot dogs: — The crescent dough. Crescent dough usually comes pre-cut, but this recipe requires you to seal those pieces together to make a rectangle. We’ll then cut these rectangles into thin strips to mummify our hot dogs. The easiest way to do this is by pinching the dough together. If it helps, you can also use a little bit of water to seal.— The cheese. We used American cheese in these dogs, but you can really use any melty cheese you like! Cheddar is a classic choice, but you could also do a light spread of cream cheese if you prefer.

How do I decorate my mummy hot dogs? To create the yellow mustard eyes after baking, we used a toothpick to dot them on. You can also use a small piping bag with a tiny cutout if you’d prefer. You could also do this with ketchup too! If you want something slightly more authentic, buy candy eyeballs at your craft store. Feel like getting extra creative? Dot some ketchup on to make your mummy hot dogs a bloody fright.

Storage and make ahead.

These treats are not only extremely easy to make, but are perfect for making ahead of your Halloween party. Assemble them before baking and pop in the freezer until ready to make. Alternatively, you can bake them, cool, and freeze for up to a week, or store in the fridge for 3-4 days.

We recommend you eat these once baked off and slightly cooled. But, you can definitely make these and chill for another mealtime. To reheat from the fridge or the freezer turn the oven to 350º to 375º and roast until heated through.
